Colin Munro, Rassi van der Dussen, David Willey Star on an Entertaining 2nd Day at Zim Afro T10

Harare,(Sportsnaama Report) 23 September, 2024: It was an action-packed Sunday at the Harare Sports Club as Colin Munro and Rassie van der Dussen both scored delightful half-centuries to help the Durban Wolves and the NYS Lagos register comprehensive wins. And after that, the day was rounded up by a well-contested thriller involving the Cape Town Samp Army, who saw off the Bulawayo Brave Jaguars by 3 wickets. The NYS Lagos finished the day at the top of the table with 2 wins out of 2.

In the opening game of the day, the Harare Bolts batted first, and they had some solid contributions from Sean Williams (35) and George Munsey (37), and Jimmy Neesham (11) to get their total upto 99 for 3 in their 10 overs. The Durban Wolves bowled brilliantly with Dawlat Zadran finishing with figures of 2/12, and Mohammad Irfan returning with figures of 1/11, in their overs. In response, the Wolves lost Sharjeel Khan off the first ball, but after that it was the Colin Munro show. The experienced New Zealander scored 58 not out from 29 deliveries, hitting five boundaries and four sixes. He was ably supported by Will Smeed (13) and Mark Chapman (12) along with Regis Chakabva (10), as they chased down the total with 4 deliveries to go.

After that, the NYS Lagos took up the responsibility of entertaining the crowd, as Rassie van der Dussen scored his second consecutive fifty of the tournament. The South African opened the batting and scored at a brisk pace from the get-go. Van der Dussen smashed an unbeaten 81 from 32 balls, which included 8 maximums and four boundaries. Along with him, Avishka Fernando and Najibullah Zadran added 20 each, as they posted an impressive 133/2. In response, the Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers could not really get going in their chase, even though the likes of Hazratullah Zazai (18), Sikandar Raza (6) and Charith Asalanka (17) tried their best. For the NYS Lagos side, Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy bagged a 3-fer and Thisara Perera picked two wickets as they won by 16 runs.

The final game on the Sunday evening produced a cracking contest, as the Bulawayo Brave Jaguars played the Cape Town Samp Army in a low scoring thriller. The Jaguars were restricted to 83/6 in their overs with Kobe Herft scoring 38 and Nick Hobson adding another unbeaten 21. For the Cape Town Samp Army side, David Willey (3/13) and Amir Hamza (2/11) were the pick of the bowlers. In the chase, the Samp Army had the likes of Brian Bennett (20) and Rohan Mustafa (19) to thank as they won the contest despite some fantastic bowling from the Jaguars. While Wesley Madhavere picked a 3-fer, Akila Dananjaya and Richard Ngarava both finished with 2 wickets each, it wasn’t enough as Qais Ahmad smashed a six over long off to wrap it up with more than an over to go and three wickets in hand.

  • Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan in Test series 2024

Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan in Test series 2024

    Khurram Shehzad Awan:

Bangladesh whitewashed Pakistan in Test series 2024 at Pindi cricket stadium Rawalpindi after defeating Pakistan by 6 wickets in the second Test match on Tuesday 3 September, 2024.

Bangladesh outclassed host country with their excellent bowling and batting performances. In the 5th day of second Test match Bangladesh needed to chase 173 runs and they did it with the excellent batting by Zakir khan who made 40 valuable runs. In the first test which have been played at Pindi cricket stadium Rawalpindi, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets.

The performance of Pakistan team was very low standard during the whole series Batting lineup was totally plopped, Babar Azam, who is considered to be the best batsman of the world didn’t performed well in the last 16 innings which is very disappointing situation for the Pakistan cricket.

BAD PAKISTAN TEAM PERFORMANCE LACKS SPECTATORS INTEREST:

Despite of the free entry for the spectators accounted by the PCB, why general public is not coming to witness the test match. There are several reasons but the major cause is the pathetic performance of Pakistan cricket team. Pakistan lost first test match by 10 wickets and Bangladesh won maiden test match. People of Pakistan loves the games of cricket so the bad performance of the star cricketers affects the spectator’s attendance. PCB did well to announce the free entry for the public but performance of the player’s matters.

Khurram Shahzad breaks the backbone of Bangladesh

Khurram Shehzad Awan: Pakistani pacer Khurram Shahzad broke the backbone of Bangladesh team and got 4 wickets for 15 runs at Pindi cricket stadium on Sunday.

Bangladesh started their innings on the third day to achieve the 274 runs which was scored by pakistan in first innings but pakistan bowling attack destroyed the batting line up of Bangladesh in the first session of the 3rd day of second Test match. Khurram shahzad bowled tremendously well and got 4 wickets just for 15 runs and sent back the bangla tigers on the backfoot where as Mir hamza got two wickets.

Bangladesh is on 74 runs with 6 wickets and pakistan need 4 more wickets to get maximum lead in the first innings. The second session will be more interesting and important for the both teams.

  • PAKISTAN TEAM BAD PERFORMANCE CAUSE LESS SPECTATORS INTEREST

PAKISTAN TEAM BAD PERFORMANCE CAUSE LESS SPECTATORS INTEREST

    Khurram Shehzad Awan:

Pakistan is facing Bangladesh in the second Test match at Pindi cricket on Saturday 31 August, 2024 at Rawalpindi.

Bangladesh is leading the series with 1-0, and won the first test match by 10 wickets. Pakistan cricket board (PCB) announced the free entry for the general public to witness the historical contest but stadium is still empty, which is not a good sign for the game of cricket as the spectators attendance plays vital role in the match to make the contest interesting. PCB officials are totally fail to pull the crowd to the ground which is very important.

The main reason for the less attendance in the match is the condition of the stadium, spectators sitting place is not as per the international standards they have sit under the bright sun in the hot conditions which is impossible. The ICC champions trophy is going to held in Pakistan in next year but stadiums are not prepared before the big event will take place. Pindi cricket stadium is the important venue for the ICC champions trophy but renovation of the spectrators stands is not yet started as the time is very short. Can PCB make ready Pindi cricket stadium before the ICC Champions Trophy which is a big question for PCB.
