    PCB APPOINTED UMAR GUL AND SAEED AJMAL AS BOWLING COACHES 

    SPORTSNAAMA REPORT : Former Pakistani cricketers Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal have been appointed as the fast bowling and spin bowling coaches for the National mens cricket team. There first assignment includes Test series against Australia scheduled from 14 december 2023 to 7 January 2024 and the T20 series against New Zealand from 12 to 21 January 2024.

    Former fast bowler Umar Gul served for Pakistan in 47 tests, 130 ODIs and 60 T20s between 2003 to 2016.

    Saeed Ajmal the magic spinner former world No 1 ODI bowler represented Pakistan in 35 Tests, 113 ODIs and 64 T20s.

    The winning photograph will be announced on World Athletics’ platforms in early December, as part of the World Athletics Awards 2023

    NATIONAL MENS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 4 MATCHES CONCLUDED

    Lahore :Four more matches were contested in the National Men’s Basketball Championship 2023 here at the Govt College University Lahore on Tuesday. 

    Army Triumph Over PAF (81-63):

    In a thrilling showdown, the Army emerged victorious against PAF with a scoreline of 81-63. The top performers for Pakistan Army included Shehbaz Ali (18 points), Shoaib Aslam (15 points), and Sheraz Aslam (14 points). On the PAF side, Akhtar Jan (13), Ahmed Jan (12), and Umar Jan (12) showcased commendable gameplay.

    Wapda Dominate Navy (86-40):

    Pakistan Wapda displayed dominance over Pakistan Navy, securing an impressive 86-40 victory. The leading scorers for Wapda were M Usman (16 points), Amir Farooq (16 points), and Zahid Arif (12 points). Babur Manan (14 points) and Amannual Fayyaz (10 points) stood out for Navy.

    POF Command Victory Over Faisalabad (84-53):

    POF asserted their dominance with a commanding 84-53 win against Faisalabad. Tayyab Abbas led the charge with an outstanding performance, scoring 28 points. Izharullah contributed 22 points, and Faruksher added 12 points. Usman Talib (19 points) and Rana Ehsan (10 points) displayed resilience for Faisalabad.

    Lahore Secure Triumph Over Islamabad (68-54):

    In a closely contested match, Lahore emerged triumphant with a final score of 68-54 against Islamabad. Saboor Mehdi (12 points), Taimoor Mehdi (18 points), and Ahmed Abbas (14 points) led the charge for the home team, while S Kazimi (12 points) and Haris (8 points) showed their prowess for Islamabad.

    The entire day’s play was closely monitored by referees Gul Jamal, Syed Adnan Ali Shah, and Ghulam Muhammad, ensuring fair play and an exciting display of basketball prowess.

    ISLAMABAD : Tajikistan defeated Pakistan by 6-1 in home leg of FIFA world cup 26 qualifier at Jinnah Stadium Islamabad. Tajikistan dominated with their skills in all the games. In the first 9th minute of first half Kamolov Amadoni scored first goal after that in the 14th , 27th,45th, 66th and 91th minutes of the match Soirov Rustam, Umarboev Parvizjon, Ehson Panshanbe,Kamolov Amadoni and Samiev Shahrom scored goals respectively. The only goal from Pakistan is sored by Rahis Nabi in the 21th minutes of the match.

    During post press conference Tajikistan coach Peter Segrt has said “we player splendid match against pakistan its a big margin victory our target is to qualify FIFA world cup 2026”

    . He added ” Pakistan is a new team they can perform well and improve their football we are pleased to be here in Pakistan and good wishes for football future in Pakistan”

    Pakistan team coach Stephen Constantine has said “Pakistan did not play well today they are not trained as compare to the other players of the world its a begging of international football in Pakistan , there is not any structure and nor any football league in Pakistan, we cannot qualify for the world cup , there should be a need to take important decisions to promote football in the country”

    Preparations are ramping up for HBL PSL 9, having now finalised the Pick Order for the Player Draft. Quetta Gladiators will make the first pick in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2024 Player Draft. Karachi Kings and two-time champions Islamabad United will have the second and third picks. The fourth and fifth picks will be done by Peshawar Zalmi and last season’s runners-up Multan Sultans respectively while winners of the past two editions Lahore Qalandars will finish the first round with the sixth pick.

    SELECTION PROCESS : “The selection order for the first round for the Platinum category is determined by the inverse order of the previous season’s standings. In order to make the Pick Order more equitable, a different franchise shall occupy the first pick in the first round of each category. Quetta Gladiators will begin the Platinum picks, Karachi Kings will have the first Diamond pick, Peshawar Zalmi will have the opening Gold pick, Multan Sultans will have the first pick in the Silver category, Islamabad United will pick the first player in Emerging category and Lahore Qalandars will have the first Supplementary pick”

    The Pakistan Cricket Board has previously opened the registration window for foreign players. The flagship event is tentatively scheduled from 8 February to 24 March, 2024.

    The HBL PSL 9 Draft is tentatively scheduled to take place in mid-December, immediately following the conclusion of the National T20.

    Tajikistan Football team coach Peter Sigurd was inspired by the hospitality and arrangements of Pakistani government for the FIFA world cup qualifier match between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

    during the pre-match press conference at Jinnah stadium Islamabad he said “Pakistan is very loving country i am inspired by the warm welcome and hospitality of Pakistan football federation and government authorities, win and loose is a part of game, football will be the winner between Pakistan and Tajikistan”

    He added “There will be a tough contest on 21 November, Pakistan is consist of talented players i watched the performance of Pakistan against Cambodia and Saudi Arabia, FIFA world cup qualifiers match will be important for both countries”

    He concluded “Pakistan is very good country having lots of talented players, Pakistan football federation is progressing with the passage of time which is a good sign for the development of football in the country”

    KHURRAM SHEHZAD: Pakistan football team coach Stephen Constantine has said “Pakistan have missed many chances to score a goal against Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan is not an easy opponent, we will try to show full strength”

    During a press conference at Islamabad Stephen Constantine said “Tajikistan is good team because they play regular matches round the year but FIFA have given less matches to Pakistan that’s why we are so behind the region in football ranking”

    He concluded “we have been played three matches of FIFA world cup qualifier, will try our best to play good football against Tajikistan, Pakistan is playing with strong opponents we are hopeful for the rest of matches”

    PAKISTAN WILL FACE TAJIKISTAN FOR FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFIER GROUP 2 AT ISLAMABAD

    KHURRAM SHEHZAD: Pakistan will face Tajikistan on 21 November at Pakistan sports complex Jinnah Stadium Islamabad for FIFA world cup qualifier group 2 match.

    Pakistan and Tajikistan have faced each other in two previous contests and Pakistan lost both matches. The First match between Pakistan and Tajikistan was played on 4 April 2006 during AFC challenge cup where Tajikistan defeated Pakistan by 2-0.

    The Second match between the two countries was took place on 17 march 2013 during  the AFC Asian cup. In this match Pakistan lost to Tajikistan by 1-0.

    In the FIFA rankings Pakistan is in the 198th place whereas Tajikistan stands at 148, making the match between these two countries very interesting.

    According to the Pakistani coach Stephen Constantine

    “Pakistan team consists of very talented players we played well against Saudi Arabia in a recent match, but Pakistan defeated Cambodia in the home leg by 1-0.So the confidence of the team is very high. I am hopeful that Pakistan will defeat Tajikistan “

    Australia win its 6th ICC ODI world cup 2023 after defeating India by 6 wickets at Ahmedabad. Travis Head smashed 137 runs match winning knock helped the Australia to become world champion.

    Pat cummins after winning the toss decided to field first , Indian batter Rohit sharma started his inning with his attacking style but austrlalian bowlers never allowed the indian batters to play shots freely. Rohit Sharma made 47, Virat Kohli once again played well and smashed 54 and KR Rahul made 66 on 107 balls and set total of 240 on board. Mithcel starc got 3 wickets .

    Australian batters played very well in a slow track Travis head made tremendous century with 137 runs and played a vital role to achieve the target while indian bowlers tried there best to stop the kangroos but all in vain.

    PESHAWAR WIN PAKISTAN CUP 2023-24 AT PINDI CRICKET STADIUM AFTER DEFEATING KARACHI WHITES by 5 WICKETS

    RAWALPINDI :Peshawar clinched their third one-day cup title after defeating Karachi Whites at Pindi Cricket Stadium by five wickets in Pakistan Cup 2023-24 final. Sahibzada Farhan won a cash prize of PKR 5 million.

    Saim Ayub, who starred with 95 in the semi-final triumph for Karachi Whites, was the second batter to exit the stage when Imran struck again to have him caught by Azam Khan. Wickets continued to tumble as none of the top five batters could register a score above 13.

    Karachi Whites skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed was dismissed courtesy a sharp catch by Iftikhar Ahmed for just 22 off 25 balls. Azam Khan was the last man out for 30 off 46 deliveries as Karachi merely scrambled to 103 all out in 31.2 overs. Imran was the chief destroyer with four wickets for 28 runs while Mohammad Abbas Afridi got three wickets.

    Peshawar did not face serious hiccups in their chase of the paltry target getting home with five wickets and 27.4 overs to spare. Mohammad Haris top-scored with a quick-fire 46 from 33 balls featuring seven fours and a six.

    Sahibzada was out in bizarre fashion as he inadvertently whipped the bails off with his bat resulting in a hit wicket off Ghulam Mudassar. The other four wickets to fall were taken by Noman Ali (two wickets), Danish Aziz and Saim (one each).

    Multan’s Haseebullah took home the player of the tournament and best wicket-keeper awards for his tally of 326 runs including two centuries and 10 dismissals. Saim topped the batting chatting charts with 397 runs in eight innings and was duly named best batter of the tournament. Multan leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood and Peshawar fast bowler Abbas Afridi were the joint winners for the best bowler award with 15 wickets each. For his impactful figures of 4-28, Mohammad Imran was declared player of the final.
