    Sportsnaama Report: New Zealand defeated pakistan by 73 runs in first ODI being played between two sides on Saturday 29 March, 2025 at Mclean Park, New Zealand and lead the three match series with 1-0.

    New Zealand made 344 runs with the loss of 9 wickets after the tremendous innings by Mark Chapman who scored 132 runs on 111 balls whereas Daryl Mitchell scored 76 runs. Pakistani bowlers struggled against the superb attacking batting by the kiwis and Irfan Khan Niazi got three wickets whereas Haris rauf and Akif Javed got two wickets each respectively.

    In reply of the huge score on board Pakistani openers start well and made good opening partnership meanwhile Abduallah Shafique went back on 36 and Usman Khan made 39 runs. Babar Azam after very long time scored 78 runs but failed to continue his inning. Salman Ali Agha made fifty and scored 58 runs and pakistan team all out on 271 runs in 44.1 overs and New Zealand win the match by 73 runs . Nathan Smith got wickets and century maker Mark Chapman was declared man of the match.

    The Zimbabwean minister Kirsty Coventry creates history to become the first ever female president of International Olympic committee (IOC) during the IOC session 144 held at Costa Navarino, Greece. On 20 March, 2025.

    Zimbabwean swimmer and sports minister Kirsty Coventry also becomes first African and youngest person to be elected IOC president. The 41 year old Coventry becomes the first woman and first African to the post.. She secured 49 votes out of the 97 electoral votes and win the contest with a huge margin. Now she will serve for eight years term and will took the charge on 24 June, 2025.

    Coventry defeated Sebastian Coe (eight votes), Johan Eliasch (two), Prince Feisal Al Hussein (two), David Lappartient (four), Juan Antonio Samaranch (28) and Morinari Watanabe (four) in the election

    President of Association of international sports press ( AIPS) Asia Hee Don Jung accompanying Secretary General AIPS Asia Amjad Aziz Malik and Member executive AIPS Europe Ioannis Daras participated in the opening session of the International Olympic committee (IOC) 144th session being held at Costa Navarino Athens, Greece on Tuesday 18 March, 2025.The IOC 144th session is organised for the election of New president of the IOC. There are eight contestants in the election for getting the presidential seat of the IOCThe session was opened by the outgoing president IOC Thomas Bach opens 144th IOC Session at Ancient Olympia paying tribute to Olympic history and expressing confidence for the future. In his speech he said “it is these values that make the Olympic Games unique. As guardians, it is our duty to unite around these values. These values that should always remind us: we are part of something greater than ourselves. This is why we always have to put values first. This is our responsibility: to carry these values with humble dignity and pass them on to the next generations”He added “The ancient Olympic Games came to an end when political and commercial interests took over and pushed the values of sport aside. For centuries, the Olympic Games perished into oblivion. It took almost 2,000 years before the Olympic Games could be revived by Pierre de Coubertin. When he did so 131 years ago, as a young man aged just 29 years, the values of sport were central to his thinking. He wanted to make the world a better place through sport and its values”

    Asian Champion Martial Arts Queen Laiba Rabnawaz Janjua’s Master Degree Black Belt Test Achieves Outstanding Success, Laiba Janjua demonstrated her strong determination, dedication, skill, perseverance, and bravery and won great applause from the audience in the Master Degree Black Belt Test. On her success, Sheehan Muhammad Ashraf awarded Laiba Janjua the Black Belt. According to the details, the Master Degree Black Belt Test of Martial Arts Queen Laiba Rabnawaz Janjua was held at the Headquarters World So-Kyokushin Federation, North America So-Kyokushin Organization, and Raja’s Martial Arts. The Master Degree Black Belt Test was organized as per international standards. The jury duties in the test were performed online by Shihan Raja Khalid while in the headquarter Shihan Muhammad Ashraf, Shihan Babar Sohail Bhatti, Shihan Khalid Qureshi, Shihan Majid Mughal, Sensei Masuluddin, Sensei Kamran, Sensei Raja Latif, Sensei Raja Rahim, Sensei Kashif Riaz. In addition, the Vice Chairman of the Sociology Federation, Medium Iram Nadeem, Executive Member Medium Nazia, Medium Saima, Raja Zia Janjua, Raja Razi Janjua, Miss Tahira Bano Mubarak Advocate, Former Candidate for National Assembly and Member Executive High Court Bar Rawalpindi, Former Candidate for National Assembly Miss Uzma Mubarak Advocate, Azmat Ali Mubarak Advocate, Sports Journalist Asghar Ali Mubarak, Medium Shamim Akhtar, Malik Usman Shakeel, Medium Ayesha Khurram Principal Roots School participated. Shihan Muhammad Ashraf, Shihan Babar Sohail Bhatti, the jury supervised the test and completed theory, basic information, kata and 20 fights. Martial Arts Queen Laiba Rabnawaz Janjua was awarded a black belt by Shihan Muhammad Ashraf for her successful test, Shihan Babar Sohail Bhatti awarded black belt certificate, while Shehan Khalid Qureshi awarded the club’s license. The audience was amazed by Laiba Rabnawaz’s excellent performance. Raja Zia Janjua presented a trophy and shield with a special sword by Raja Razi Janjua. Shields and gifts were given by Shihan Muhammad Ashraf, Shehan Babar Sohail Bhatti, Sensei Raja Rahim, Sensei Kashif Riaz, Sensei Anib Butt, Shaban Janjua and Rajaz Martial Arts. Shehan Raja Khalid Mahmood Janjua, President and Branch Chief World So-Kyokushin CEO Raja’s Martial Arts congratulated Laiba Rabnawaz Janjua on passing the test.     Muhammad Zeeshan Hamid: The Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC) concluded a highly productive meeting today at Lahore, marking significant progress in preparations for the 14th South Asian Games, which will be held from 23rd to 31st January 2026 in Lahore, Faisalabad and Islamabad.

    Chaired by Mr. Arif Saeed, President SAOC and National Olympic Committee (NOC) Pakistan, the meeting reinforced the collective commitment of South Asian NOCs to fostering regional sports development and strengthening cooperation through sports. The discussions highlighted how the region’s athletes, Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra, brought South Asia into the global spotlight at Paris 2024 by winning medals in javelin throw — an achievement that not only inspired the youth of the subcontinent but also underscored the power of sports in promoting peace, unity, and shared aspirations across borders.

    The meeting was attended by representatives from NOCs Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan:

    On the special request of Mr. Arif Saeed, President NOC Pakistan, Mr. Zahoor Ahmed Chaudhry, Federal Secretary Sports (Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination Division) also attended and met the delegates.

    Key Outcomes of the Meeting

    Finalized Games Schedule – The 14th South Asian Games will take place from 23rd to 31st January 2026, with events set to be hosted across Lahore, Faisalabad, and Islamabad.

    Approval of Sports Program – 27 Sports were already agreed upon by the South Asian NOCs as per the rules of South Asia Olympic Council by circulation. The final list of sports approved and decided in the meeting is listed in next item. It was also decided events for each sports will also be decided before 31st March 2025 and the Technical Handbooks will be prepared and released subject to approval of the Asian Federations concerned.

    Formation of SAOC Constitution Review Committee – A committee has been established to review and update the SAOC Constitution, aligning it with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Constitution.

    It was also agreed that to benefit from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), SAOC Secretariat will invite an OCA representative to all future SAOC meetings.

    Approved Sports for the 14th South Asian Games

    The following sports have been confirmed for inclusion in the 14th South Asian Games:

    Aquatics – Swimming (Men & Women), Archery (Men & Women), Athletics (Men & Women), Badminton (Men & Women), Billiards & Snooker (Men), Boxing (Men & Women), Fencing (Men & Women), Golf (Men & Women), Judo (Men & Women), Karate (Men & Women), Shooting (Men & Women), Squash (Men & Women), Table Tennis (Men & Women), Taekwondo (Men & Women), Tennis (Men & Women), Triathlon (Men & Women), Weightlifting (Men & Women), Wrestling (Men & Women), Wushu (Men & Women), Basketball 3×3 and 5×5 (Men & Women), Cricket (Men & Women), Football (Men & Women), Handball (Men & Women) and Beach Handball (Men), Hockey (Men), Mat Kabaddi (Men & Women), Rugby (Men), Volleyball (Men & Women) & Beach Volleyball (Men), and Rowing. Rowing, proposed as second optional sport by the host NOC, will be included once it receives endorsement from at least four NOCs as an additional sport to already approved program.

As for as the points table is concern after the result of this match Australia and South Africa got one point each and they have three points on the points table whereas England and Afghanistan having lost of their first match they have zero point so the next match between these two teams will decide the whole position of the group B.

The national contingent also secured 7 silver and 14 bronze medals on day two, further solidifying Pakistan’s dominance in the competition.

    With five days of action still remaining, the focus now shifts to the highly anticipated Kyorugi (sparring) events, where Pakistan aims to continue its impressive run. The championship, featuring top athletes from across Asia, will conclude on 20th February.
