    Pakistan squash team departure to China for 22nd Asian Squash team championship

    Islamabad: The 22 nd Asian Squash Team Championship is going to be held at Dalian, China from
    12 – 16 June, 2024. A group of 14 teams from all over Asia would participate in Men
    event.

    Following seven member Pakistan squash team comprising four players, one coach and two officials depart from Islamabad to participate in the mega event.

    2. Mr Noor Zaman – Player
    3. Mr Nasir Iqbal – Player
    4. Mr Farhan Mehboob – Player
    5. Mr Fahim Gul – Coach
    6. Mr Waseem Umar – Physical Trainer

    The teams have been divided into 04 Pools. Pakistan team has been placed in Pool-C along with
    Korea, Chinese Taipei and China.
    In their 1 st match, Pakistan team will play against Chinese Taipei on 12 June, 24 whereas,
    in the 2 nd match, they will play against Korea.

    Khurram Shehzad : Saudi Arabia out classed Pakistan by 3-0 in FIFA World cup qualifier held at Jinnah stadium Islamabad on Thursday.

    Saudia Arabia forwards continually attacked the Pakistan post in the first half of the game and got success in the 26th minutes when F. Al Buraikan scored first goal and in the 41th minutes Al Buraikan scored second goal and took the lead 2-0 in the first half.

    Saudia Arabia dominated the game and in the 59th minutes of the match M. Aljuwayr scored third goal for Saudi Arabia which lasts at the end of the match. There were 20 thousand spectators present at the stadium to witness the mega contest. Which shows the popularity of football in Pakistan. The management of Pakistan sports board in collaboration with PFF organised the match accurately according to the FIFA standards which is appreciatable.

    Islamabad : The second day of the Sarsabz Volleyball Series 2024 witnessed another thrilling match between
    Pakistan and Australia, held at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex.

    Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, the Pakistan volleyball team secured a
    decisive victory against Australia, winning the match 3-0 with set points of 26-24, 25-19, and 25-
    23.
    This impressive win marks Pakistan’s second consecutive victory in the series, ensuring they
    clinch the series win with a match still to be played. This achievement is a testament to the hard
    work and dedication of the Pakistan volleyball team and the unwavering support from the
    Pakistan Volleyball Federation.
    Match Highlights:
    First Set: The match began with a nail-biting first set, where both teams displayed
    remarkable prowess. Pakistan managed to edge out Australia with a close score of 26-24,
    setting the tone for the rest of the game.
    Second Set: Building on their momentum, Pakistan dominated the second set with a score
    of 25-19. Their strategic plays and cohesive teamwork left Australia struggling to keep up.
    Third Set: The final set was a testament to Pakistan’s resilience and skill. Despite a strong
    challenge from the Australian team, Pakistan secured the win with a score of 25-23, sealing
    their victory in the match and the series.
    Chairman Pakistan Volleyball Federation, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, expressed his pride in
    the team’s performance, stating, “This series win is a significant milestone for Pakistan
    volleyball. The team’s hard work and dedication have paid off, and we are thrilled to see them
    perform at such a high level. We encourage all fans to come out and support the team in the
    final match.”

    PFF declares franchise-based Football league is illegal

    Lahore :

    The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has categorically stated that the franchise-based Pakistan Football League (PFL), which is claimed to be held in the next month, is an illegal event as per its statutes and has not been sanctioned by the federation.

    The PFF is the sole governing body for football in Pakistan duly affiliated with FIFA and the AFC.

    The PFF’s authority is reinforced by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) vide its letter dated September 9, 2014, according to which the government only engages with national sports federations recognized by their respective international bodies.

    Participating in, organizing, or supporting any football event not sanctioned by the PFF is a clear violation of Article 82 of the PFF constitution and could lead to disciplinary measures.

    Furthermore, the PFF emphasized that it encourages any project aimed at genuine football development in the country, provided it is duly approved by the federation.

    Bangkok (Sportsnaama Report) : The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Normalisation Committee, led by Chairman Haroon Malik, accompanied by NC members Muhammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar and Saud Hashimi attended the 74th FIFA Congress held in Bangkok, Thailand.

    The 74th Congress, which saw attendance from the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Suriya Juangroongruangkit, FIFA Legends and other notable figures, was highlighted by several significant announcements and initiatives from FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

    FIFA President announced Brazil as the host nation for the tenth FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027. He emphasized the need to stand up and combat racism, urging the football community to unite to eradicate the issue from the sport.

    On the sidelines of the 74th Congress, the Pakistani delegation, led by Haroon Malik engaged in productive discussions with representatives from Korea, Belarus, Russia, Palestine and Germany. The meetings will play a crucial role in shaping the future of football in Pakistan and paving the way for new opportunities and development within the sport.

    KHURRAM SHEHZAD AWAN: Pakistan volleyball team win the central Asian volleyball championship after defeating Turkmenistan by 3-1 in the final held at Liaqat Gymnasium Pakistan sports complex Islamabad on Friday.

    The final match was played between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, with Pakistan emerging victorious after winning three sets while Turkmenistan managed to win only one.

    The green shirts secured their victory with 25-21, 25-19, 20-25, and 25-14 points.

    Trials for the Selection of the Pakistan Davis Cup Team Finalised

    Islamabad:

    The trials for the selection of two (2) players for the Pakistan Davis Cup team were conducted from 09th to 13th May 2024, at PTF-SDA Tennis Complex Islamabad.

    The top 2 selected players will travel along with Aisam Ul Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan for the Davis Cup tie against Barbados in September 2024. Ahmad Nael Qureshi has been selected for the team directly, based on his recent exceptional performances in the national and international junior tournaments.

    10 players (6 men, 2 juniors and 2 wildcards) were invited, based on their performance and current PTF ranking and the following 2 players have been selected after the completion of the trials.

    Mohammad Zakariya of Egypt win CNS squash championship 2024

    Karachi:

    Mohamed Zakaria of Egypt won the 16th Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) International Squash Championship. after defeating Nasir Iqbal of Pakistan by 3-1 at the PN Roshan Khan Jahangir Squash Complex in Karachi on Sunday.

    Zakaria won the championship by defeating Nasir Iqbal by 3-1 in the final of the $20,000 prize money championship.

    Nasir started well by winning the first game 13-11. However, Zakaria made a comeback and won three consecutive games to clinch the match.

    The Egyptian player tied the match at 1-1 by winning the second game 11-4. He then took the 2-1 lead by winning the third game 11-5. Zakaria sealed the victory by winning the fourth and final game 11-7.

    Zakaria, the winner, received a trophy and $3,850 in prize money, while the runner-up Nasir Iqbal received $1,938.

    The Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, was the guest of honour in the final match and distributed cash prizes to the winner and the runner-up.

    Lahore : A delegation from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) embarked on a 3-day visit to Pakistan, focusing on the football landscape. The delegation, comprising Lazarus Johnson, Head of AFC’s Strategic Planning and Advisory Unit, Sonam Jigmi, AFC Senior Manager of the South Asia Unit and Dinesh De Silva, Manager of the South Asia Unit, convened with the Department Heads of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) at the Football House in Lahore.

    During the meeting, the AFC delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with the PFF Normalisation Committee leadership, including NC Chairman Haroon Malik and member Muhammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar.

    The department heads provided the visiting dignitaries with a comprehensive overview of the significant events that happened over the past two years, along with forthcoming plans and initiatives.

    The discussion delved into various aspects of Pakistan football including governance, finance, planning and administration with a special focus on enhancing the professional football landscape. They exchanged views and ideas aimed at addressing challenges and leveraging opportunities to propel the growth and development of football in Pakistan.

    The assessment and recommendation exercise by the AFC will lead to a planning and implementation phase followed by rigorous monitoring by the Asian Football Governing Authority.
